The Story
TabVault started from a simple frustration. I was watching a long YouTube tutorial, had to close my laptop, and came back to find the tab gone and the video back at the beginning. I searched for a Chrome extension that would save the exact video timestamp — nothing did it cleanly.
So I built TabVault. What started as a personal tool became something I wanted to share. It saves your tab state — scroll position, video timestamp, everything — so you can close tabs freely and come back exactly where you left off. Your RAM thanks you. Your future self thanks you.
The Developer
Muhammad Saad Ali
Independent Software Developer · Pakistan
Independent software developer building practical tools for everyday use. TabVault is built with care — no bloat, no tracking, no unnecessary complexity. Just a tool that does exactly what it says.
TabVault is a CraftlyKit project — see the studio overview for the shorter origin story.
Why TabVault Is Free
TabVault used to have a paid Pro tier, but that added complexity for very little benefit — most people just wanted the core feature to work reliably. Removing the paywall meant every feature, including unlimited Quick Saves, categories, and Run All, is now available to everyone from the moment they install the extension. There is no account to create and no data leaves your device, so there was never a server-side cost that pricing needed to cover in the first place. This site earns a small amount from ads shown on some pages, which keeps the extension itself free and funds ongoing maintenance.
Privacy First
No data collection. Everything stored locally on your device.
Simple by Design
One button to save. One button to run. No learning curve.
Built to Last
Clean code, no unnecessary dependencies, long-term maintained.
